Our Spiritual Leader / Jewish Educator

Abby Michaleski, our cantorial soloist for the past three years, returns this year as our spiritual leader. In addition, Abby will be returning to our school as a Jewish Educator, providing our children a creative learning experience in a warm and welcoming environment.

After years of congregation membership, board leadership, teaching, and lay service leader at Temple Beth El in Hammonton, Abby returned to school and earned her Master's Degree in Jewish Liberal Studies from Gratz College in Philadelphia. She has spent the last several years working as a B’nai Mitzvah tutor, teacher and Cantorial soloist for our community as well as Congregation M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill. This work, along with a deep love for a vibrant and spiritual Judaism inspired her to once again return to school. While continuing to teach and sing, Abby is now studying as a rabbinic student in the ALEPH: Alliance For Jewish Renewal Rabbinic program. ALEPH is a worldwide trans-denominational organization (inclusive of Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist and Orthodox communities), that works towards advancing a vital Judaism as an ethical and spiritual path.

We are pleased to have Abby continue as part of our Beth El family and look forward to her leadership in prayer, song, study and celebration.
